On the anniversary of my birth...

...I find myself thinking about meaningful music from my past.

And on many occasions, that means the Appleseed Cast.

The Appleseed Cast rode with me when I would drive to Madison blasting The End of the Ring Wars to visit the boys who eventually became groomsmen in my wedding.

Their album, Mare Vitalis, rode with me on my long drives between Milwaukee and the Twin Cities.

The Low Level Owl albums helped forge a bond with a new college roommate that has lasted to this day.

And Two Conversations was the soundtrack for dating the woman who eventually became my wife.

Thanks for the memories, the Appleseed Cast.

I look forward to seeing you for at least the 10th time at the Triple Rock on Nov. 4th.

Song of the Day: Girl Talk - Every Day

Song of the Day is Girl Talk's "Every Day". When he combines "I Melt With You" by Modern English and Jay-Z, it's all over for me. Happy Friday.

Who Did It Better? Pink Floyd vs. Pearl Jam

Last week, Pearl Jam capped off Pink Floyd week on Jimmy Fallon by performing "Mother". A moving song, done beautifully. But does this capture the emotion of the original? By comparison, here's an epic 8-minute version filmed at Earl's Court in London from 1980. It's not up to me to decide. It's up to you. Please let me know, Who did it better?
