Best of 2010 #8: Ra Ra Riot - The Orchard

Ra Ra Riot - The Orchard
Recommended Tracks: Kansai, The Orchard, You and I know

Syracuse University home team Ra Ra Riot released their sophomore effort this year.  A 6-piece group, they are vocals, drums, bass, cello, violin and guitar (not in that order).

Their latest effort is called the Orchard, and it sees Ra Ra Riot moving from energetic and artistic pop songs into a more deliberate, reflective and sparse effort.  The result is a very consistently good album through and through with some definite bright spots.

The title track from the album, "The Orchard", is also notable for the bass line used in the song.  There's something about it that draws me in.  Excellent work, folks.
