Arcade Fire - We Used To Wait - HTML5

The Arcade Fire is a pretty big band these days.

Their first album, Funeral, came out while I was living in Seattle.  It quickly became my driving around soundtrack.  Songs like "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" were really up my alley at this time, and I wasn't good at noticing the more beautiful, subtle tracks like "Wake Up" until much later.

On their latest release, The Suburbs, they made waves in the tech world with this interactive video for their song, “We used to wait” by integrating many of the features that will be coming in HTML5 into a seamless user experience.  It is only properly viewable in Google Chrome, but if you get a chance, check out the future of websites: http://thewildernessdowntown.com/

Additionally, here’s an article highlighting the features used that are so “cool” (but cool in a techy, nerd way, not hipster way):

If you don't have Chrome, here's a YouTube video showcasing the website and the interactive video:

I'm Not A Pilot - Need Money For Rocket Fuel

Incredible Milwaukee band, I'm Not A Pilot just posted their new album, which you can now stream for FREE here: www.ImNotAPilot.com.

With I'm Not A Pilot being formed in Milwaukee in November of 2008, an EP released in June of 2009 and many shows in between, this band's full length album, Need Money For Rocket Fuel, is much anticipated.

The two songs below are my favorites.  "A Lot To Say" always gets me.  There's something so epic and beautiful about the half-step walk down walk up.  I've always loved that.

And the Pixies are one of my favorite bands of all time.

Please let me know what you think in the comments.

BIAS NOTE: I was in this band until a few months ago.

Who did it better? - Mumford and Sons vs. Jeanna Salzer and Grace Weber

This week, Jeanna Salzer and Grace Weber took on Mumford and Sons' "Little Lion Man". So many factors. Mumf & Sons are from London Jeanna & Grace are from Milwaukee Mumf & Sons are all dudes with an okay on the prettiness factor Jeanna & Grace are beautiful ladies by anyone's estimation Mumf & Sons are rambling and rambunctious Jeanna & Grace are full of poise and intimacy It's up to you to decide...  Who did it better?

Lost Shepherds

Have you heard of Lost Shepherds yet?
St. Paul-ites Lost Shepherds are fronted by Eben Stine, and their CD dropped approximately two weeks ago at the end of September 2010.  Their music can best be described as edgier Fleet Foxes.
Give them a listen today.  You won't be disappointed.  I particularly like Knife in Hand and Calling from the Valley.  (to listen to those tracks, click on the little down aarow to the right of the song title)
